I want to thank our illustrious Chairwoman Joyce Beatty for your years of service to the Congressional Black Caucus and to our nation.
So as we gather here, I know that all of us also have in mind the people of Puerto Rico and Florida and South Carolina.
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, U.S. Congresswoman and Congressional Black Caucus Chair Joyce Beatty (OH-03) voted to pass a package of public safety bills. At the negotiating table, Beatty pushed for and secured funding for de-escalation training, oversight by the Department of Justice, and an emphasis on mental health and breaking the cycle of violence. After the vote, Beatty issued the following statement:
