The lawsuit was brought on behalf of the Congresswoman in her capacity as an ex officio trustee of the Kennedy Center by Democracy Defenders Action and the Washington Litigation Group. Congresswoman Beatty participated in the recent Board meeting and alleges she was prevented from speaking when she attempted to object to the renaming.

These measures passed through committee as part of H.R. 6644, the Housing for the 21st Century Act, which will streamline housing development and increase flexibility for local communities.
