April is observed as National Donate Life Month, a month-long initiative to encourage Americans to register as organ, eye and tissue donors as well as an opportunity to honor individuals who have saved lives through the gift of donation.

April is National Minority Health Month. Adding her voice to those raising awareness on the ongoing need to eliminate health disparities that continue to disparately impact African-Americans and other racial and ethnic minorities, U.S. Congresswoman Joyce Beatty (OH-03) issued the following statement:

Fifty one years ago, on April 11, 1968, President Lyndon B. Johnson signed into law the Civil Rights Act of 1968, also known as the Fair Housing Act, which prohibits discrimination in the housing sector based on race, ethnicity, sex, age, disability, and family status. In recognition of the landmark piece of legislation, each April our country commemorates Fair Housing Month.

April 8th through 12th is National Retirement Planning Week (NRPW), a nationwide campaign to promote the importance of comprehensive retirement planning.

April 11, 2019 marks the one-year anniversary that the Allow States and Victims to Fight Online Sex Trafficking Act (FOSTA) (P.L. 115-164) was signed into law.

April 7th through 15th is National Library Week, a chance to celebrate our nation’s libraries and the transformative effect they have on all Americans.
