WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, U.S. Congresswoman and Congressional Black Caucus Chair Joyce Beatty (OH-03) released the following statement expressing her support for the Active Shooter Alert Act. The bill, which passed the House on a 260-169 vote, will establish an AMBER alert style system to provide life-saving information during emergency situations involving active shooters.

The Congressional Black Caucus on Wednesday called for more action on police reform following the death of Jayland Walker, a Black man who was shot and killed by police in Akron, Ohio.
The Akron Police Department on Saturday released bodycam footage of police firing a barrage of bullets at Walker as they pursued him over an unspecified traffic violation late last month.
The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) and Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) slammed the Supreme Court's decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, which legalized abortion across the country.
COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Supreme Court has ended constitutional protections for abortion that had been in place nearly 50 years — a decision by its conservative majority to overturn the court's landmark abortion cases.
Friday’s outcome overturning Roe v. Wade is expected to lead to abortion bans in roughly half the states.

After Friday’s celebrations at Goodale Park, the festivities continued Saturday with Stonewall’s Pride March at Broad and High Streets, moving north on High Street to Buttles Avenue and landing at Goodale Park.
More than 17,000 people took the streets downtown for the march that was in the Short North arts district for the first time since 2016.
Washington, D.C. — Today, the U.S. House of Representatives passed H.R. 2543, the Financial Services Racial Equity, Inclusion and Economic Justice Act, a package of thirteen bills focused on promoting racial and economic justice throughout the financial services sector.
On the 2020 campaign trail, now President Joe Biden won over the hearts and votes of many by promising to forgive up to $10,000 in student loan debt per person.
Now, as he gets closer to making a decision on just how much forgiveness he’s willing to give, the Congressional Black Caucus is dialing up the pressure on the President to show Black borrowers some grace.
