Rep. Joyce Beatty will chair the Congressional Black Caucus for the 117th Congress as the caucus embarks on its 50th anniversary as the voice of Black America on Capitol Hill.

Rep. Joyce Beatty, a Democrat from Ohio, was elected the next chair of the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) on Thursday (December 3).

Rep. Joyce Beatty (D-Ohio) on Thursday was elected the next chair of the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) — a position she called an “honor of a lifetime.”

The powerful CBC will be celebrating it’s 50th anniversary in 2021 and voted on Thursday to have Beatty lead them. Beatty represents Ohio’s 3rd District which includes Columbus and has been vice-chair of the CBC since November 2018.
