Joyce Beatty Statement Against Government Shutdown
On September 30, 2013 at midnight, the current continuing resolution expired, shutting down the United States government and consequently causing hundreds of thousands of middle-class workers to be furloughed immediately. This was done in a pointless attempt to stop the Affordable Care Act (ACA). The ACA is the law of the land which has been upheld by the Supreme Court and which is being implemented to the benefit of millions of Americans.
