WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Joyce Beatty (OH-03) issued the following statement in response to the on the targeted shootings of Minnesota elected officials:

"The targeted shootings of Minnesota State Senator John Hoffman and his wife, and former Minnesota House Speaker Melissa Hortman and her husband, are horrifying and unacceptable."

"Violence has no place in our democracy."

"My prayers are with Senator Hoffman and his wife as they recover. And I mourn the tragic loss of the Hortmans and extend my deepest condolences to their loved ones."

"This brutal act strikes at the heart of our civic life. We must continue to stand united against political violence. Our democracy demands nothing less."
