Congresswoman Beatty Marks National Domestic Violence Awareness Month
October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month, a month-long initiative dedicated to raising awareness about the prevalence of domestic abuse. U.S. Congresswoman Joyce Beatty (OH-03) issued the following statement:
"Nearly 20 people every minute in America are physically abused by another individual. This means that 10 million women and men are victims of domestic violence every year. That is why I encourage everyone to lend their hearts, voices and to share in the responsibility to recognize, address, and prevent domestic violence. Together we can empower victims of domestic violence by ensuring that survivors and their families have access to the resources, care, and support they desperately need."
If you or someone you know are the victim of domestic violence, please contact Ohio Domestic Violence Awareness Network(ODVAN) at 800-934-9840 or the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 800-799-SAFE.
