Beatty Reflects on National Day of Civility
July 12, 2020 is National Day of Civility, a day that recognizes the importance of improving political discourse between individuals of differing opinions. To mark the occasion, U.S. Congresswoman Joyce Beatty (OH-03), the Co-Chair and Co-Founder of the Congressional Civility and Respect Caucus, said:
“2020 could not signify a greater need for civility. We must treat each other with respect and engage in open, honest dialogue with those who may have opposing opinions especially. As the Co-Chair of the Congressional Civility and Respect Caucus, this National Day of Civility and all year long, I urge my constituents, fellow Ohioans, and all Americans—including Members of Congress, Senators, and the White House—to be mindful of people with varying perspectives, political beliefs, and political affiliations. Yes, we can indeed disagree without being disagreeable and vilifying one other in the process.”
