Rep. Beatty Statement on President Biden’s State of the Union Address

February 7, 2023

WASHINGTON, D.C. — On February 7, 2023, President Joseph R. Biden delivered the 2023 State of the Union Address before a joint session of the 118th Congress. After the president's speech, U.S. Congresswoman Joyce Beatty (OH-03) issued the following statement:

“Tonight, the President of the United States delivered an incredibly strong message to the American people to address the progress we have made as a nation under his leadership and the possibilities that lie ahead. Grounded in his commitment for everyday Americans, the President shared how he has delivered For the People across the country and right here in Central Ohio with historic investments — including the largest infrastructure law ever, an unprecedented investment in lower healthcare costs and climate reform, the first major gun reform legislation in over three decades and billions in federal funding toward American technological and manufacturing dominance with the CHIPS and Science Law.

“Still, as President Biden mentioned this evening, our work is not over yet. At a time when our freedoms – from voting rights, women’s reproductive rights, to civil rights – are under attack, the President will continue to work with Congress to advance legislation that ushers forth an agenda toward a more equitable and just America for all. I stand ready to work with our President to fulfill his promise to redeem the soul of our nation.”
