Rep. Beatty Statement on House Passage of Government Funding Legislation with Additional Investments in Franklin County
Washington, D.C. — U.S. Congresswoman Joyce Beatty (OH-03) released the following statement regarding House passage of a second minibus appropriations package for Fiscal Year 2024, which included $647,195 in funding that Beatty secured for a community project in Franklin County. This community project grant, in the Homeland Security appropriations bill, is one of fourteen grants Beatty secured in the appropriations process, totaling $11.5 million for the district:
"Today, alongside my House Democratic colleagues, I voted to fully fund the federal government, ensuring stability for our communities and economy. While this compromise may not include everything we need or represent all a Democratic House Majority would ideally accomplish, we protected reproductive freedom and the rights of the LGBTQIA+ community and prioritized working families by securing a $1 billion increase for child care programs, said Congresswoman Beatty.” “The community investment in this appropriations package significantly enhances Franklin County’s disaster response, coordination, and recovery capabilities, further safeguarding its residents. Once again House Democrats put people over politics.”
The community project aims to modernize the technology infrastructure and strengthen the security of the Franklin County Emergency Operations Center. It will establish a technology hub to facilitate the seamless distribution of information across key areas of emergency management.
