Rep. Beatty Statement on Continuing Resolution Passage to Avoid a Government Shutdown
Washington, DC — U.S. Congresswoman Joyce Beatty (OH-03) issued the following statement on the passage of the House Continuing Resolution:
“Last night, I voted with the overwhelming majority of my House Democratic colleagues in support of a stopgap government funding bill because the alternative – a government shutdown that would harm our communities and our economy – is unacceptable. Nevertheless, this continuing resolution represents yet another missed opportunity by the House Republican majority. It does nothing to help our allies in Israel and Ukraine nor does it do anything to provide humanitarian and disaster assistance for those in need. It also fails to get us any closer to a full-year funding agreement than where we were back in September. House Republicans must put their reckless partisanship aside and work with Democrats, who continue to put people over politics, to reach a legitimate funding agreement that meets the needs of the American people and provides emergency assistance for our allies.”
