Congresswoman Joyce Beatty Launches #MaskUpChallenge

COLUMBUS, OH—Today, U.S. Congresswoman Joyce Beatty (OH-03) is proud to announce the start of her #MaskUpChallenge. The social media campaign seeks to increase awareness on the importance of masks to slow the spread of COVID-19 by encouraging constituents of Ohio's Third Congressional District to submit a photo wearing their favorite mask to Beatty's Office. All eligible submissions will be shared on Facebook, where a winning photo will be selected based on total number of likes. The winning submission will then be prominently featured across Beatty's social media platforms.

"Masks are essential to combat COVID-19 and have also become somewhat of a ‘fashion statement'—from displaying team spirit and cool slogans, to even fancy masks," Beatty said. "In that spirit, I invite my constituents to ‘mask up' and submit a selfie wearing their most creative mask for consideration in my Mask Up Challenge." She continued, "Wearing a mask is not a political exercise but rather a common sense, effective strategy to reduce the spread of COVID-19 and put a stop to this public health crisis. My Mask Up Challenge is a great way to raise awareness and at the same time help save more lives."

To participate, individuals must send a photo of themselves wearing a mask, along with their name, the city and state where they live, and a one-sentence explanation on why they ‘mask up' to MaskUp.OH03@mail.house.gov by 11:59 PM Tuesday, July 28, 2020.
