Congresswoman Beatty Supports Bipartisan Budget Bill

Beatty votes to keep government open and boost programs that provide ladders of opportunity to American families

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Today, the U.S. House of Representatives passed by a vote of 240 to 186 the Bipartisan Budget Deal of 2018, H.R. 1892, a bill that funds the government through March 23rd, suspends the debt limit until March 2019, and sets in place a long-term government funding deal through Fiscal Year 2019. Following passage, U.S. Congresswoman Joyce Beatty issued the below statement:

"Today's bipartisan compromise provides desperately needed funding for important programs and needs critical to people in my district and our nation that I have long championed, most notably the Children's Health Insurance Program, Community Health Centers, Disproportionate Share Hospitals and teaching hospitals, infrastructure repairs, Community Development Block Grants, economic revitalization, and the opioid crisis— not to mention, it keeps our government open and one million federal employees on the job. Moreover, the bill provides additional funding for our military and veterans and helps close the Medicare prescription donut hole for our seniors.

Also, I will continue advocating for the long overdue consideration of immigration issues including a pathway to citizenship for DREAMers."
