Beatty delivers over $10 million for safety, youth engagement, transportation and infrastructure enhancement, workforce development, and other projects throughout Franklin County
Washington, D.C. — U.S. Congresswoman Joyce Beatty (OH-03) delivered over $10.9 million in federal funding for thirteen community projects located in Franklin County. This funding was included in a minibus appropriations package for Fiscal Year 2024, which passed Congress and was signed into law by President Biden earlier this month.
"I am excited for the transformative impact this funding will have for Ohio's 3rd District," said Congresswoman Beatty. "It represents the collaboration between my office and our community partners to advance the work of local institutions and improve the quality of life for Franklin County residents. These funds demonstrate our commitment as Democrats to prioritize our constituents' well-being over partisan divides for tangible enhancements that will impact our daily activities and our ability to thrive as a community.”
Specifically, Beatty secured the investment of:
- $1,466,279 for Columbus to widen the East Broad Street corridor from the east side of the I-270 interchange to the intersection of East Broad Street and Outerbelt Street to reduce traffic congestion and improve road safety
- $963,000 for Franklin County’s One-Door Initiative to provide community support for youth at risk of justice system involvement
- $600,000 for Communities In Schools Ohio’s Crime Prevention & Youth ReEngagement Program
- $850,000 for the US 62 Silicon Heartland Improvements Project in Franklin and Licking Counties to facilitate enhanced access to the Intel CHIPS facility under construction
- $500,000 for the Birchview Road Reconstruction Project in Reynoldsburg
- $320,000 for East Broad Street Transit Stop Improvements
- $300,000 for the Columbus Library’s Business & Nonprofit Center
- $1,500,000 for the YMCA Eldon and Elsie Ward Community Pavilion
- $1,000,000 for the Habitat for Humanity - MidOhio’s Workforce Development Center
- $935,000 for HVAC Replacement & Improvements at St. Stephen’s Community House
- $500,000 for the Community of Caring’s Redevelopment Project of The Linden Embassy
- $1,000,000 for the Columbus College of Art & Design’s Gateway Improvement Project
- $963,000 for The Ohio State University’s Global Positioning System (GPS) Enhanced Security Project
Other legislative priorities included in the minibus appropriations bill include:
- Over $1.1 billion to continue supportive services and affordable housing assistance for low-income seniors and persons with disabilities.
- A record $121 billion to provide medical care for our nation’s veterans.
- $60.8 billion to improve the safety and long-term viability of our nation’s highway systems.
- $713 million for Violence Against Women Act prevention and prosecution programs, a $13 million increase over the previous year.
- $207 million each for the National Endowment for the Arts and the National Endowment for the Humanities.
