Beatty Statement on Shooting at First Baptist Church in Sutherland Springs, Texas
On Sunday, November 5, 2017, a gunman opened fire on First Baptist Church in Sutherland Springs, Texas, killing 26 people and injuring at least 20 more. In response, U.S. Congresswoman Joyce Beatty (OH-03) issued the following statement:
"I join all Americans as we stand united with the entire First Baptist Church in Sutherland Springs, Texas. As we remember the lives senselessly cut short and all those injured, we must look past our differences--and move beyond partisan rhetoric--so that no family has to experience the agonozing loss of a loved one because of gun violence. It is long past time that we work together as a country to stop the bloodshed--we owe it to the people of Sutherland Springs, Las Vegas, Orlando, San Bernardino, Charleston, Newtown and Aurora, as well as the countless Americans that are victims every day across the country."
