Congresswoman Beatty Observes National Domestic Violence Awareness Month

October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month, a month-long initiative dedicated to raising awareness about the prevalence of domestic abuse. In response, U.S. Congresswoman Joyce Beatty (OH-03) issued the following statement:

"Every minute in America, nearly 20 people are the victims of physical abuse. In fact, ten million women and men are victims of domestic violence each year. That is why I encourage everyone to lend their hearts, voices, and to share in the responsibility of recognizing, addressing, and preventing domestic violence. Together we can empower victims of domestic violence by ensuring that survivors and their families have access to the resources, care, and support they desperately need."

If you or someone you know are the victim of domestic violence, please contact Ohio Domestic Violence Awareness Network (ODVAN) at 800-934-9840 or the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 800-799-SAFE.
