Every year, Americans of all backgrounds come together to recognize National Day of Civility and rededicate themselves to improving political discourse between people of differing opinions. To mark this year's celebration, U.S. Congresswoman Joyce Beatty (OH-03), co-founder and Co-Chair of the Congressional Civility and Respect Caucus, said:

"People are sick and tired of the divisive and often hateful rhetoric coming out of the White House, the Halls of Congress, and even in their own neighborhood these days. We need to always remember that we can disagree without being disagreeable—and that at the end of the day, we are all Americans first and foremost. In that spirit, I call on Members of Congress, Senators, and the Trump Administration to lead by example and show our constituents that we can vehemently disagree on the issues and rigorously debate the policy options, but we can do so without vilifying each other in the process."

Since Beatty founded the Congressional Civility and Respect Caucus in February 2018, she has visited several Central Ohio-area schools and businesses as part of the #ReviveCivility Tour to highlight the importance of treating each other with respect at school, the workplace, home, and in the community.
