Congresswoman Beatty Highlights Importance of Mental Health Awareness Month
The month of May signifies Mental Health Awareness Month, a nationwide initiative that aims to raise awareness and to fight the stigma around mental health. During these uncertain times when Ohioans and Americans everywhere have drastically altered their everyday routines, U.S. Congresswoman Joyce Beatty (OH-03) issued the following statement to emphasize the importance of mental health services before, during, and after a crisis:
"Did you know that nearly one in five Americans will experience a mental health condition this year and that unfortunately countless more live in the shadows? That means each of us likely know someone living with a mental illness—even if you do not actually personally know it. So, I urge my constituents to join me in lifting up our voices to show support and stand in solidarity with the more than 40 million Americans living with mental illness. Together, we can ‘end the stigma.'"
