Congresswoman Beatty Celebrates Women's Equality Day
August 26, 2019, marks the 99th anniversary of the adoption of the 19th Amendment, which guaranteed women—for the very first time—the right to vote. To commemorate Women's Equality Day, U.S. Congresswoman Joyce Beatty (OH-03) said:
"99 years ago today, American women took a giant leap towards equality by finally securing their right to vote. While we have made further strides in the decades since—particularly for women of color—our work continues. That is why I will continue my fight in Congress to support total equality for women, including closing the pay gap, guaranteeing access to healthcare, and expanding opportunities for the next generation of female leaders. When women succeed, America succeeds."
