Beatty Recognizes National Bullying Prevention Month
October is National Bullying Prevention Month, a month-long awareness campaign to encourage more kindness in the classroom and online, as well as to emphasize the importance of creating a positive school climate. As founder and co-chair of the Congressional Civility and Respect Caucus, U.S. Congresswoman Joyce Beatty (OH-03) issued the following statement in observance of National Bullying Prevention Month:
"School and the Internet often are no longer safe places, but rather sources of bullying and harassment for many young people. We need to ‘stop bullying on the spot.' All of us have a role to play, so I strongly encourage all parents, teachers, school faculty, students, and community leaders to unite together to create a world where diversity and inclusion is celebrated."
In February 2018, Beatty teamed up with Congressman Steve Stivers (R-OH-15) to launch the Congressional Civility and Respect Caucus. Since then, Beatty and Stivers have visited three Central Ohio-area schools as part of their #ReviveCivility Tour, emphasizing the importance of civility and respect in the classroom, online, and in the community.
