Be You, Be Proud | Celebrating Pride Month

June 1, 2021
Announcements

June is Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer (LGBTQ) Pride Month, a month-long celebration that recognizes the LGBTQ community's ongoing battle for equal rights and the key contributions of LGBTQ Americans. A strong advocate and ally, U.S. Congresswoman Joyce Betty issued the following statement in observance of LGBTQ Pride Month:

"The LGBTQ+ rights movement has come a long way since the Stonewall riots some 52 years ago, but the march toward full equality continues on. To that effect, I was proud to help pass the Equality Act in the House of Representatives several months ago, which prohibits discrimination and segregation on the basis of sexual orientation or gender identity, and I am working hard with the Biden-Harris Administration to reverse the many anti-LGBTQ policies championed by the former Trump Administration.

This Pride Month, and all year long, I call on my congressional colleagues and constituents to unite and show their pride in support of LGBTQ equality."

During LGBTQ Pride Month, be sure to show your support and join the conversation online by using #LGBTPrideMonth, #Equality, and #LoveWins.
