Statement on the Passing of Officer Steven M. Smith

Today, U.S. Congresswoman Joyce Beatty (OH-03) issued the following statement on the passing of Columbus Division of Police Officer Steven Smith:

“I extend my deepest condolences to the family and friends of Officer Steven Smith. I join with the entire Columbus community in mourning the loss of Officer Smith. He will be forever remembered for his bravery, dedication and selfless service to the people of Columbus.”

Steven M. Smith was a member of the Columbus Division of Police for 27 years, serving in the SWAT team, helicopter unit, dive team, and narcotics bureau over the course of his career. Officer Smith is survived by his wife and two children.
