Statement on FY2017 Omnibus Appropriations Act

On May 3, 2017, the U.S. House of Representatives passed the Fiscal Year (FY) 2017 Omnibus Appropriations Act, H.R. 244. The piece of legislation funds federal government agencies and related operations through the remainder of FY2017 on September 30, 2017. In response, U.S. Congresswoman Joyce Beatty (OH-03) issued the following statement:

"I voted for the FY2017 Omnibus Appropriations Act to keep the government open for the remainder of the fiscal year. The bill increased funding for the National Institutes of Health by $2 billion and provided additional funds for its National Institutes of Neurological Disorders and Stroke—two priorities I have long championed. Furthermore, the bill restores students' access to year-round Pell Grants, authorizes $9.3 billion for Head Start, another $15.5 billion for Title I Grants, $2.4 billion for Homeless Assistance Grants, $137.5 million for the Choice Neighborhood Program and $40 million to help homeless veterans transition into permanent housing—these are all critical to my district and our nation."
