Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Joyce Beatty (OH-03), released the following statement on her visit to the New York Stock Exchange.

Congresswoman Joyce Beatty recently visited Wall Street and toured the New York Stock Exchange. As a member of the House Financial Services Committee, Congresswoman Beatty understands the vital role the New York Stock Exchange plays in providing a safe, reliable trading exchange for the purchase and sale of corporate securities.

With some of the nation’s largest financial institutions located in Ohio and the 3rd Congressional district, Representative Beatty recognizes the important role the industry plays in providing credit, loans, home mortgages, lending to small businesses and insurance for our community.

“Ensuring my constituents have the necessary tools for financial literacy and economic prosperity is important to me and is one of the main reasons why I am serving in Congress.”

“Seeing the New York Stock Exchange first hand in New York City provided me with invaluable experience. Witnessing the trading of stocks among the hustle of what is Wall Street, it reminds me of why the House Financial Services Committee is so important. My committee oversees financial institutions, reserve banks, and exchanges in order to usher our nation’s economic progress forward. My visit gave me a greater scope and understanding of the stock exchange as I review the work within my committee,” stated Rep. Beatty.

Congresswoman Joyce Beatty was selected to serve on the influential House Financial Services Committee and the subcommittees on Housing and Insurance and Oversight and Investigations.
