Congresswoman Beatty Urges Congress to ‘Do Its Job'
Supports bill that funds the federal government for 71 days
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Congresswoman Beatty (OH-03) voted in favor of legislation that funds the federal government through December 11, 2015. The Continuing Resolution, Concur in the Senate Amendment to H.R. 719, maintains government funding at current spending rates and does not block funding for Medicaid reimbursement or Title X family planning grants. The legislation passed by a vote of 277-151 and heads to the White House for President Obama's signature.
"Just hours before a critical deadline, we are faced with passing legislation that continues automatic, indiscriminate spending cuts that were enacted in 2011. I voted for this bill because I refuse to shut down the federal government," said Rep. Beatty. "I am disappointed that in just 71 days we will encounter another funding deadline. It is time for Congress to do its job."
