Congresswoman Beatty’s Statement on the Supreme Court Ruling of Marriage Equality

(Washington, D.C.) – Congresswoman Beatty (OH-03) released the following statement regarding the Supreme Court rulings on the Defense of Marriage Act and California’s Proposition 8.

“I applaud the Supreme Court ruling today on the Defense of Marriage Act. LGBT activists and allies have been working for equal rights to federal benefits. The Supreme Court’s resolution on the Proposition 8 matter was a victory for California’s LGBT community. I urge the States that are not aligned to follow suit as swiftly as possible.”
