Congresswoman Beatty Issues Statement on Republicans’ Ineffectual Leadership

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, Congresswoman Joyce Beatty(OH-03) issued the following statement as House Republicans obstruct the proceedings of the 118th Congress by consecutively failing to elect a Speaker to lead the U.S. House of Representatives for the 118th Congress:

“Within only a matter of hours into the 118th Congress, we have witnessed chaos, crisis, and confusion from Republicans whose decision to cater to the extremists in their party has prevented lawmakers from carrying out the work of the American people. While House Republicans fight among themselves, Democrats are united by our commitment to building on our achievements and working to lower costs, create better-paying jobs and make our communities safer. Alongside President Biden and our Senate colleagues, I will continue to put People over Politics and work on a bipartisan basis to tackle the fundamental issues facing working Ohioans. It is my hope that we will find willing partners on the other side of the aisle.”
