April 17, 2020

WASHINGTON, D.C.— Today, U.S. Congresswoman Joyce Beatty (OH-03) announced $33,916,456 in federal funding for airports across Central Ohio as a result of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act passed last month by Congress. The Beatty-backed piece of legislation includes $10 billion in funds to be awarded as economic relief to eligible U.S. airports for the prevention of, preparation, and response to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) Pandemic. These funds are being administered by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

"Many of my constituents rely on our community's airports not just for travel but also work," Beatty said. "Ensuring these airports remain fully operational during and after the Coronavirus Pandemic is vitally important." She continued, "That is why I worked hard with my congressional colleagues to help make sure that Central Ohio airports can secure the much-needed federal funds to continue their important work."

Central Ohio airports receiving federal funds are:

  • John Glenn Columbus International Airport: $31,471,589
  • Rickenbacker International Airport: $2,218,867
  • The Ohio State University Airport: $157,000
  • Bolton Field Airport: $69,000
