Beatty Votes for Two-Year Budget Agreement

Legislation provides greater certainty to hard-working American families

Washington, D.C. – Today, U.S. Congresswoman Joyce Beatty (OH-03) voted for a two-year budget agreement that would provide relief from sequestration and affirms the full faith and credit of the U.S. government. The Bipartisan Budget Act of 2015, H.R. 1314, passed the House by a vote of 266-167 and moves to the Senate for consideration.

"After two years of damaging arbitrary budget cuts, Congress produced a meaningful budget agreement, led by a unified Democratic conference, Speaker Boehner, and the Administration, which provides adequate funding for both defense and non-defense programs. While this deal avoids the most immediate disasters in the GOP calendar of chaos, the incoming Republican Leadership have only weeks to avoid causing another government shutdown," said Rep. Beatty.

The bipartisan budget package represents significant progress for hard-working American families, making headway in addressing the urgent priorities of Ohioans and the American people. The agreement also protects the full faith and credit of the United States, extends the solvency of Social Security Disability Insurance, and prevents a significant increase in seniors' Medicare Part B premiums and deductibles.
