Beatty Statement on the Second Anniversary of the Roe Reversal
WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Rep. Joyce Beatty (OH-03), the White House Liaison for the Democratic Women’s Caucus (DWC), issued a statement on the second anniversary of the devastating ruling in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization — reversing Roe v. Wade and leading to numerous assaults on women's reproductive health care rights across America.
“In the wake of the Supreme Court’s disastrous decision to overturn Roe v. Wade and upend decades of precedent, we are hearing stories since then from women across the United States who have had their reproductive rights stripped away and their pregnancies criminalized. This includes the story of Brittany Watts, an Ohio woman unjustly charged with a felony following a miscarriage at home,” said Congresswoman Beatty.
“Many predicted that overturning Roe would open a Pandora’s box of attacks against women’s reproductive freedoms. And now we have seen a relentless Republican assault on access to basic reproductive health care including IVF, birth control and emergency abortions to protect the lives and health of women. We were right.”
“A woman’s right to choose should be non-negotiable. I won’t stop fighting until only women and their doctors are in control of their reproductive health care decisions.
