Beatty Statement on Republican Maneuver to Repeal the Affordable Care Act

Congressional Republicans ram through legislation threatening healthcare coverage for more than 20 million newly-insured Americans with no alternative

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The U.S. House of Representatives passed the "Obamacare Repeal Budget Resolution," S.Con.Res. 3, on a party-line vote of 227 to 198. This piece of legislation sets in motion the dismantling of the landmark Affordable Care Act, commonly referred to as "Obamacare." Following passage, U.S. Congresswoman Joyce Beatty (OH-03) said:

"I voted against the Republicans' reckless ‘repeal and run' plan to strip healthcare coverage from the more than 20 million newly-insured Americans, including 664,000 Ohioans. Today, Republicans voted to turn their backs on families, women, seniors, students, people with disabilities and individuals with preexisting conditions. This resolution will put countless Americans just one doctor or emergency visit away from financial catastrophe."
