Beatty Statement on Installation Ceremony of Loretta Lynch

Washington, D.C. – Today, U.S. Congresswoman Joyce Beatty (OH-03) attended the installation ceremony for U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch at the historic Warner Theater in Washington, D.C. Rep. Beatty was at the forefront of Congressional efforts to have the Senate confirm Lynch, who is the first African American female to serve in this important role. Joining with her Delta Sigma Theta, Inc. sorors, Rep. Beatty attended confirmation hearings alongside Reverend Lorenzo Lynch (Loretta Lynch's father), Wade Henderson, Elaine Jones, and Members of Congress. Rep. Beatty also spoke at press conferences and conducted media interviews in support of Lynch's confirmation.

Rep. Beatty's statement on today's installation ceremony follows:

"Today's installation ceremony closes the book on months and months of unnecessary wrangling to get Loretta Lynch confirmed by the Senate. In her first few weeks on the job, Attorney General Lynch already has demonstrated her incredible capacity to deliver successes as the nation's top law enforcement officer. I am glad that the torch of excellence has been passed to her, as our nation's 83rd U.S. Attorney General."
