Final Democrat and GOP Financial Services Committee Members Are In
Thirty-three new and returning Democrat members will serve alongside 25 Republicans on the House Financial Services Committee in the 116th Congress.
New members for the Democrats include U.S. Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., Katie Porter, D-Calif.; Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich.; and Ayanna Pressley, D-Mass.

Committee Chair Maxine Waters, D-Calif., also announced subcommittee leadership including:
- U.S. Rep. Carolyn Maloney, D-N.Y., chair of the Subcommittee on Investor Protection, Entrepreneurship and Capital Markets;
- U.S. Rep. Gregory Meeks, D-N.Y., chair of the Subcommittee on Consumer Protection and Financial Institutions;
- U.S. Rep. William Lacy Clay, D-Mo., chair of the Subcommittee on Housing, Community Development and Insurance;
- U.S. Rep. Emanuel Cleaver, D-Mo., chair of the Subcommittee on National Security, International Development and Monetary Policy;
- U.S. Rep. Joyce Beatty, D-Ohio, chair of the Subcommittee on Diversity and Inclusion; and
- U.S. Rep. Al Green, D-Texas, Chair of the Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations.
"I am pleased to announce the very talented, experienced and diverse new leadership of our six subcommittees," Waters said in a news release . "During the 116th Congress, the Financial Services Committee will take on many important issues on behalf of consumers, investors and vulnerable populations, and I look forward to working with each subcommittee chair to ensure the interests of hardworking Americans are well represented."
Ranking Member of the Financial Services Committee, U.S. Rep. Patrick McHenry, R-N.C., announced the GOP leadership , including five new representatives and several returning members.
New Republican members include U.S. Reps. Anthony Gonzalez, R-Ohio; Lance Gooden, R-Texas; Denver Riggleman, R-Va.; John Rose, R-Tenn.; and Bryan Steil, R-Wis.
Chairwoman Waters has not yet scheduled any hearings but she announced her priorities for the committee, including a strong Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and financial regulations in a policy speech before the Center for American Progress Jan. 16.
Ranking Member McHenry, in a letter to Waters , has called for several hearings by the committee, including discussions on cybersecurity and fintech regulations.
