Congresswoman Joyce Beatty launches Mask Up Challenge

July 22, 2020

U.S. Congresswoman Joyce Beatty, OH-3, announced Wednesday the launch of her #MaskUpChallenge.

The social media campaign aims to increase awareness on the importance of wearing masks to slow the spread of COVID-19. Residents are asked to send a photo of them wearing their favorite masks to Beatty's office.

All eligible submissions will be shared on Facebook, where a winning photo will be selected based on the total number of likes it receives.

The winner will be featured on Beatty's social media platforms.

"Masks are essential to combat COVID-19 and have also become somewhat of a ‘fashion statement'—from displaying team spirit and cool slogans, to even fancy masks," Beatty said.

To participate in the #MaskUpChallenge, individuals must send a photo of themselves wearing a mask, along with their name, the city and state where they live, and a one-sentence explanation of why they "mask up." Photos can be submitted here and must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. on July 28.

Gov. Mike DeWine also announced Wednesday that beginning at 6 p.m. Thursday, all Ohioans will be required to wear a mask when in public places.
