Congresswoman Beatty Statement on American Education Week Celebration

All week long, the National Education Association (NEA) and like-minded organizations, government at all levels, countless students, teachers and parents are joining together to celebrate the life-changing effects of our nation’s public education system. U.S Congresswoman Joyce Beatty (OH-03) added her support to all those recognizing American Education Week (AEW), saying:

“As we mark the 95th anniversary of American Education Week, let us recommit ourselves to ensuring every person has the ability to obtain a high-quality, public education no matter their zip code. In that spirit, I remain steadfast in my commitment to providing all young people the much-needed tools, skills and access to succeed in and outside the classroom. I will continue to work with NEA, my fellow Members of Congress and other education stakeholders in the weeks and months ahead to make this a reality for all students, parents and communities.”

First celebrated in 1921, AEW grew out of the pressing need to improve literacy rates among young Americans. Today more than nine decades later, AEW is still organized by NEA. This year, AEW runs from November 14th to November 18th. For more information on American Education Week, please visit the National Education Association’s website.
