Congresswoman Beatty Observes the Legal Services 44th Anniversary

On July 25, 1974, President Richard Nixon signed into law the Legal Services Corporation (LSC) Act of 1974. To mark LSC's 44 years of providing legal aid to those who may not otherwise be able to afford it, U.S. Congresswoman Joyce Beatty (OH-03) issued the following statement:

"For more than four decades, the Legal Services Corporation has provided access to free, high-quality legal services for countless vulnerable Americans. LSC's commitment to equal justice under the law for all has helped countless Americans—from families facing unlawful evictions or foreclosures, to women seeking protection from abuse.

As a longtime LSC ally, I join them in the fight to ensure access to legal services and equal rights for all Americans. That is why I introduced the Homeless Veterans Legal Services Act, so that homeless and at-risk of homelessness veterans can access legal services.LSC is critical to ensuring we live up to our nation's ideals, and I am committed to protecting it from reckless cuts in the Trump Administration's budget."
