Congresswoman Beatty Observes National Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month
October is National Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month, a campaign dedicated to raising awareness about pregnancy loss and infant mortality. To mark the occasion, U.S. Congresswoman Joyce Beatty (OH-03) issued the following statement:
"In recognition of National Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month, cities across the nation hold ceremonies and candlelight vigils to recognize parents and families who have faced the devastating loss of a child. Each year in the United States, nearly one million pregnancies end in miscarriages, stillbirth, or succumb to infant mortality. In my district alone, the infant mortality rate is 8.7 percent. That is why I believe it is imperative that we provide support and education on pregnancy, pre-natal and post-natal care, and infant loss. I applaud groups like Moms2BE and CelebrateOne in my district who are helping toward this end."
