Congresswoman Beatty Observes National Library Week

April 8th to April 14th is National Library Week (NLW), a weeklong celebration of our nation's libraries and the transformative effect they have on all Americans. To mark the occasion, U.S. Congresswoman Joyce Beatty (OH-03) issued the following statement:

"Libraries are community hubs and epicenters for learning. That is why it is imperative Congress continues investing in our nation's network of libraries, so that more people can fully realize the magic and power of reading. In that spirit, this National Library Week and all year long, I urge my constituents, fellow Ohioans and all Americans to join me in celebrating the tremendous impact our country's nearly 120,000 libraries have on Americans of all ages."

First celebrated in 1958, NLW is spearheaded by the American Library Association, in coordination with libraries across the country each April, to highlight the importance of libraries and library staff. All types of libraries—school, public, academic and special—participate each year. You too can join in the celebration by visiting the American Library Association's website and/or by using #NationalLibraryWeek on social media.
