Congresswoman Beatty Observes National Library Week

This year, from April 9th to April 15th, our nation marks National Library Week (NLW), a weeklong celebration of our nation's libraries and the transformative effect they have on all Americans. In recognition of NLW, U.S. Congresswoman Joyce Beatty (OH-03) issued the following statement:

"This National Library Week, I join all those recognizing the tremendous impact our country's nearly 120,000 libraries have on Americans of all ages. In my district and across the country, libraries serve as community hubs and epicenters for learning. It is imperative that Congress continue investing in our nation's network of libraries so that more people can fully realize the magic and power of reading."

First celebrated in 1958, NLW is a national observance sponsored by the American Library Association, in coordination with libraries across the country each April, to highlight the importance of libraries and library staff. All types of libraries—school, public, academic and special—participate each year. You too can join in the celebration by visiting the American Library Association's website and/or by using #NationalLibraryWeek on social media.
