Congresswoman Beatty Named Champion for Children

May 28, 2020

The Children’s Defense Fund Action Council announced that U.S. Congresswoman Joyce Beatty (OH-03) received the highest score possible on their 2020 Legislative Report Card. Beatty’s perfect score of 100% is based on her continued advocacy for and decades-long commitment to our nation’s children.

“It is truly an honor to be recognized by the Children’s Defense Fund for my work to ensure that all children have an opportunity to succeed,” Beatty said. “Throughout my time in Congress, I have fought hard to reduce poverty, expand child healthcare, education, early childhood development and care, reform our broken immigration system, curb gun violence, increase affordable housing options, and make progress on a whole host of issues critical to today’s young people and their families.” She continued, “At a time when countless children are left even more vulnerable because of the Coronavirus Pandemic, I will continue to work with the Children’s Defense Fund, my congressional colleagues, and many others to make sure that the health, safety, and well-being of our children always comes first.”

Founded in 1973 by Marian Wright Edelman, the Children’s Defense Fund’s mission is to guarantee every child a ‘Healthy Start, a Head Start, a Fair Start, a Safe Start and a Moral Start’ in life and successful passage to adulthood with the help of caring families and communities.
