Congresswoman Beatty Marks Mental Illness Awareness Week

During the first full week of October, millions of Americans, nonprofits, and dedicated advocates join together to raise awareness, educate the public, fight stigma, and provide support for individuals living with mental health conditions. In recognition of Mental Illness Awareness Week (MIAW), U.S. Congresswoman Joyce Beatty (OH-03) said:

"This year, more than 44 million Americans will experience a mental health condition, and one in five Americans will be affected in their lifetime. Unfortunately, many feel marginalized and do not seek assistance. The perception of mental illness will not change unless we act to change it. In that spirit, I urge my constituents and all Americans to speak out and provide greater support for our family members, friends, and neighbors living with a mental health condition. Together, we can ‘cure stigma.'"
