Congresswoman Beatty Marks 53rd Anniversary of Older Americans Act

On July 14, 1965, President Lyndon B. Johnson signed the Older Americans Act into law. Over the past 50 years, the Act has helped millions of seniors live, thrive and participate in the community. To mark the occasion, U.S. Congresswoman Joyce Beatty (OH-03) released the following the statement:

"Every day, 10,000 Americans turn 65, and it is our obligation to make sure the support programs they rely on are stronger and more sustainable than ever. These vital programs provide food, caregiver support, preventive health services, transportation, job training and so much more. That is why, I am committed to fighting against any proposals that threaten our seniors' livelihood. In that spirit, I am calling on all Americans to join me in celebrating the life-changing effects of the Older American Act and positive countless effects on countless seniors."
