Congresswoman Beatty Celebrates Women’s Equality Day

Today, August 26th, is Women’s Equality Day, marking 96 years since women first gained the right to vote following certification of the ratification of the 19th Amendment. In response, U.S. Congresswoman Joyce Beatty (OH-03) said:

“On this day in 1920, women finally were granted the long overdue right to vote.” Beatty said. “Today, I ask my constituents and all Americans to join in the celebration of the brave individuals who peacefully and persistently fought to ensure that every woman could fully participate in our democracy.” Beatty continued, “Standing on those heroes and sheroes’ shoulders, I am proud to continue the fight for women’s equality—from supporting equal pay for equal work to ensuring access to affordable, high-quality childcare and healthcare, and protecting retirement security programs—because when women succeed, America succeeds.”
