Congresswoman Beatty Celebrates National School Breakfast Week
March 6-10, 2017, is National School Breakfast Week (NSBW), a weeklong celebration of the School Breakfast Program. Created in 1966, the School Breakfast Program provides low-income students with free or reduced-cost breakfasts. To mark NSBW, U.S. Congresswoman Joyce Beatty (OH-03) issued the following statement:
"Breakfast is the most important meal of the day and thanks to the School Breakfast Program nearly 14 million students start the school day with a nutritious meal. I salute the hard work of the School Nutrition Association, and stand with them and many others in ensuring more students have access to a healthy and tasty breakfast."
NSBW is organized by the School Nutrition Association, a national nonprofit representing more than 57,000 members who provide high-quality, low-cost meals to students across the country.
