Congresswoman Beatty Celebrates National HBCU Week
This week, September 17- September 24, 2017 is National Historically Black College and University (HBCU) Week. For decades, HBCUs have provided an affordable, high-quality education to countless students of color. In recognition of National HBCU Week, U.S. Congresswoman Joyce Beatty (OH-03) issued the following statement:
"As a proud HBCU graduate, from Central State University, I understand firsthand the integral role HBCUs play in the lives of students in and outside the classroom. Nationwide, there are more than 100 HBCUs located in 19 states, D.C. and the Virgin Islands, serving over 250,000 students. This week, and all year long, I join HBCU students, faculty, alumni, and all Americans in celebrating HBCUs' rich history of encouraging and empowering all students to succeed academically, personally and professionally."
During National HBCU Week, be sure to join the conversation online by using: #HBCUWeek, #HBCUPride, #iLoveMyHBCU, and #HBCUMadness.
