Congresswoman Beatty Celebrates Minority Health Month

April is National Minority Health Month, a celebration observed by the Office of Minority Health at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. This month is a time to learn more about the health status of racial and ethnic minority populations in our nation. In response, U.S. Congresswoman Joyce Beatty (OH-03) issued the following statement:

“Still today, African-Americans, Latinos, Asian-Americans and all minority communities continue to face higher rates of chronic health conditions like certain cancers, heart disease, diabetes and a multitude of other illnesses and diseases—leading to poorer health outcomes. This is totally unacceptable. That is why it is imperative Congress works in a bipartisan fashion to better understand the health disparities that exist for far too many of our fellow citizens. Together, we can ensure Americans of all backgrounds can celebrate many more of life’s important milestones.
