Congresswoman Beatty Celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month
This year, September 15 to October 15 marks National Hispanic Heritage Month, recognizing the rich contributions Latin American people have made to American history, heritage, and culture.
"Hispanic Heritage Month gives everyone the opportunity to celebrate the vibrant diversity of America's Latino communities, and the immense impact they have made to our nation. However, it is also an opportunity to reflect on how our government can better serve these communities," U.S. Congresswoman Joyce Beatty (OH-03) said. "The first step in that is pushing for the Senate to pass the Dream and Promise Act and finally create a path to legal status for the DREAMers and their families. Along with my colleagues in the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, I am proud to fight for equality, opportunity, and justice for all of my constituents."
Of note, this June, Beatty voted to pass the Dream and Promise Act, H.R. 6, which would establish a path to permanent residency for DREAMers, immigrants brought to the United States as children who are currently protected under the Obama-era Differed Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) policy. H.R. 6 passed by 237-187.
