Beatty Statement on Older Americans Month

Older Americans Month recognizes older adults' beneficial impacts on society

May is Older Americans Month, a time to reflect on older Americans' contributions to our nation and the unique challenges confronting them. As Vice-Chair of the House Democratic Caucus' Seniors Task Force, U.S. Congresswoman Joyce Beatty (OH-3) issued the following statement:

"Every day, 10,000 Americans turn 65. At a time when more than 6 in 10 Social Security beneficiaries rely on Social Security for at least 50% of their income, it is imperative that Congress work in a bipartisan fashion to strengthen and ensure the future solvency of Social Security and Medicare. That is why in my role as Vice-Chair of the House Democratic Caucus' Seniors Task Force, I am proud help lead the charge to improve and protect the financial security, quality of life, health and well-being of our nation's seniors."
