Beatty Statement on Indivisible Ohio's Government Shutdown Advocacy
On January 17, 2019, U.S. Congresswoman Joyce Beatty (OH-03) issued the following statement in advance of a planned rally by members of Indivisible Ohio at the John Glenn Columbus International Airport:
"As this shutdown drags on into its fourth week, my constituents and families across the nation are anxious—uncertain of when they will get their next paycheck, how they will pay their bills, and afford their mortgage—and every passing day costs our economy billions of dollars. That is why I want to applaud Indivisible Ohio and other organizations for standing with the many Central Ohioans, 800,000 federal employees and contractors, and countless Americans who have been negatively impacted by the ongoing Trump Shutdown. I support them in their mission. At the same time, I am working tirelessly in Congress to reopen government, and am calling on Republican leadership in the House and Senate to stand up to Trump's irrational demand to build his vanity wall at the expense of hardworking families' livelihood, and get serious about ending the shutdown."
